Q. How can I learn to write a grant proposal?

In general, we do not offer workshops or training on grant writing.  However, we do have many self-help publications on this topic.  These can be checked out to individuals with a UIS borrowing card (current faculty, staff, students OR alums). Lincoln Library patrons in good standing can obtain a reciprocal borrowing card.  Friends of Brookens Library ($50 annual fee) also have borrowing privileges.

The Foundation Center, with which we are affiliated, offers online training in the form of webinars and classes.   Their classes range in price from free (one hour webinar) to fee-based (up to $225 for a full course which includes instructor feedback).  You can check their live, online calendar here for current offers & fees:  http://grantspace.org/training/calendar/online    In addition, they offer archived webinars and other forms of self-paced training:  http://grantspace.org/training/self-paced-elearning

Alternatively, Lincoln Land Community College offers many online short courses (@ 6 weeks) with a focus on the nonprofit sector, including grant writing courses:  https://www.ed2go.com/llcc/  Choose nonprofit to see a selection of their offerings.  They also have options under their business courses, including grant writing.
